NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Norwich University men's and women's swimming & diving teams hosted Elms College in a dual meet on Saturday afternoon at Goodyear Pool.
The Cadet men claimed a 169-51 win while the NU women fell 128-116.
The team of sophomore ReAnn Bowen (Marlborough, Mass.), sophomore Megan Duffy (Shelton, Conn), junior Keely Purington (Kailua, Hawaii) and sophomore Olivia Kelliher (Weymouth, Mass.) won the women's 200 yard medley relay with a time of 2:05.83. Purington went on to win the women's 50 yard freestyle in 28.41 while Duffy claimed first in the women's 100 yard freestyle in 56.15.
Junior Sam Carlson (Dedham, Maine) won the men's 1,000 yard freestyle with a time of 11:19.24 while freshman Alexis Magee took first in the women's 200 yard freestyle in 2:15.75.
Senior Harrison Brock (Alexandria, Va.) won the men's 200 yard freestyle in 1:56.09 while junior Joseph Clark (Acworth, Ga.) won the 100 yard backstroke in 57.47. Clark also took first in the 200 yard backstroke in 2:06.73. Freshman Michael Kuehne (Auburn, Mich) claimed the men's 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:04.72.
Sophomore Gordon Suwirjo (Derry, N.H.) took the men's 200 yard butterfly in 2:11.24 while senior Alex DiGiacomo (Norfolk, Mass.) won the men's 50 yard freestyle in 22.55. Alex also took first in the 100 yard butterfly in 55.77.
Sophomore Sarah Carls (Niagara Falls, N.Y.) won the women's 1-meter diving competition with a score of 199.35 with fellow sophomore Brian Parrott taking first in the men's 100 yard freestyle in 51.19.
Junior Cameron Ferreira (Cocoa Beach, Fla.) won the men's 200 yard IM with a time of 2:07.89. The team of Magee, Kelliher, Purington and Duffy won the women's 200 yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:52.15. Parrott, junior Michael Dziatko (Marlborough, Conn.), Carlson and Suwirjo won the men's 200 yard freestyle relay in 1:35.64.
The Cadets are next in action at the Maine Maritime Academy on Saturday, January 18th at 2:00 p.m. They will have a quick turnaround as the travel to Husson on Sunday the 19th for a 12:00 p.m. dual meet.
